the 2005 sliding pillar rally

27-30 May, Mont-Saint-Aubert, Belgium

Surprising Belgium beckons once more as the Sliding Pillar rally goes continental again in 2005 following last year’s particularly enjoyable Dorset meeting. This annual event, now in its 15th year, provides the ideal opportunity for all owners of traditional Lancias to meet and exchange notes in a highly convivial atmosphere and enjoy together the many subtleties of their unique cars. The two highly successful European rallies held so far augur well for the 2005 event.

The attractive region chosen for this third Belgian Sliding Pillar rally, Flanders and Hainaut, is within easy reach of Calais and has much to offer the visitor, with historic cities and interesting and varied landscapes. This same region has also been chosen by the Registro Aurelia for the 50th birthday celebration of the B24, which overlaps with the Sliding Pillar rally this year. The two events will meet up on the Saturday for what promises to be a memorable day.

The second continental Sliding Pillar rally held in Belgium in 2003 attracted numerous participants coming from seven countries in almost every sliding pillar Lancia the factory ever produced. As in previous years, tourism, gastronomy, ancient machinery and above all friendship across many frontiers are the hallmarks of the event. The same team as in previous years (Eduard De Landtsheer, Andrew Maclagan, Jan and Toon Van Hoorick) in cooperation with the rally’s founders, Ade and Ed Rudler, are once again making preparations to ensure the success of your long weekend in 2005 in Belgium. This year too, we have chosen a comfortable hotel with all the necessary facilities. It is situated in Mont-Saint-Aubert, just north of the historic city of Tournai, not far from Lille. The rooms have a commanding view as far as the north of France. This will be our base for the weekend from 27th to 30th May. But a word of warning: the number of rooms available is rather limited this year, so early booking is recommended.

As ever, we look forward to welcoming all Lambdas, Dilambdas, Artenas, Asturas, Augustas, Belnas, Aprilias, Ardennes, Aurelias, Appias and even the odd Florida. Don’t miss it!
Your 2005 Sliding Pillar Team
